Playlist – Girls who rock our world
Sunday playlist! There are many many women out there ready to rock your world with their music without relying on their beauty, a catchy beat or empty dumb lyrics. We are on the look out for the 'real' badass girls whose music is inspiring because they carry a message that is both personal and public. Drawing from their own experiences they speak about humanitarian issues that have affect all of us: religion, women empowerment, violence, peace, immigration, discrimination, diversity. Lyrics are meshed with a sound that consciously takes from ancient or present histories of sound and give them their own personal twist. Soul, R&B, hip hop, jazz reggae, electronic music are all vehicles for activism, plinths on which women speak up, confess their desires, hopes and worries.
